About

Throughout my life I've been inspired by the untamed, elemental forces of nature. I endeavour to keep my paintings open and more abstract without letting go of the original inspiration.

In my work I aim for a mere suggestion of sense of place and hopefully evoke a memory or emotion in the viewer.

By building up layer upon layer of paint and glaze on the canvas, I aim to achieve texture, depth and atmosphere in my paintings.

My work is influenced  by the past masters Turner and Constable, with their profound understanding of the natural world and our own place within it. I also have been inspired by more contemporary painters such as Zao Wu Ki, Nicholas de Stael, Dion Salvador Lloyd and Fred Cuming.

I studied fine art at the Hochschule der Kuenste in Berlin. Since then I have worked  in animation, both as a Special Effects and Character artist on several feature films and TV series throughout the world.

For the past ten years I have been continuing to pursue my passion of painting contemporary landscapes in oils.
